Nothing ever begins

Nothing ever begins.

There is no first moment; no single word or phrase from which this or any other blog springs.

The threads can always be traced back to some earlier server, and to the servers that preceded that; though as the narrator's voice recedes the connections will seem to grow more tenuous, for each age will want the tale told as if it were of its own making.

(Adapted from the book Weaveworld by Clive Barker)

So here we are at my first ever public blog. You've all got Bruce of to thank for this. He's been nagging me for weeks to start a blog so here we are. It's rough and ready but I'd rather polish it as I go along.

So what's new today then?

1. Today I'm looking into the latest version of domino.doc now known as IBM Lotus Domino Document Manager 6.5.1. It reads good on paper and installs simply and easy following the admin guide. A slight worry that's it's the first product that's really needed me to RTFM but it's not the end of the world.

2. Jaffacake has moved to a new server! I upgraded my desktop hardware to a nice shiny 3.2Ghz P4 with 1GB of 400MHz DDR RAM. Blindingly fast, I can seriously recommend this  Corsair RAM combined with the Abit K7 Max3 motherboard. The new desktop hardware allows me to combine the old desktop and server hardware to run on a P4 1.9 with 1.5GB RAM and plenty hard disk. That'll do just nicely.

3. Ed Brill is looking for contributors for some projects. Check out and see if you're elligible. I've already mailed him to see if I can help out.
