About The Site

With the use of a plug-thru electricity meter we are able to monitor power consumption of everyday devices when they are turned on, off or in "standby" state.

By comparing the results, we'll be able to see which devices around the home have the highest power consumption and how much you will save by turning them off when they're not in use. Where possible, we'll monitor different settings on the device to see if you can save power during normal use.

Devices used will be unmodified and using a standard 240v/50Hz UK supply. Where it might be considered a factor, temperature readings will be given where possible. For example. the cold water may be considerably colder in winter and take a lot more energy to boil. Winter readings may be repeated in Summer and vice versa to get results of seasonal variation on power consumption.
