Charity

Wednesday 5th January, 2005
Later this year I'm planning an exercise to try and raise money for charity.

Not being the exercising type I'm not going to do a sponsored walk, cycle or swim. I'm not even going to parachute or absail from a high building. Instead I'm going to go for a geeks nightmare...I'm going to not use computers for a whole week, maybe even two.

Obviously I'll need time off work as it'll be impossible to do my job but aside from that my life is going to consist of anything except computers, computer games, the web, email, instant messaging or other computer related pastimes. I know it's going to hurt...a lot but it'll all be for a cancer related charity. Given all the money going to Asia right now I can see other non-Tsunami related charities really suffering this year so it may well come at a good time for them.

So, watch this space and have your credit cards ready for some donations. If I'm going to cut myself off from my electronic world, it needs to be worthwhile. Incidentally, I'll be looking for ideas of what to do in a world without computers, feel free to post suggestions.

    Means of collecting money

Have you seen { Link } as a (rather ironic, in this case) means of getting the dosh ?

Yes, I am planning to use this method even if they do take a rather extravagant cut of the takings.

I´m full of admiration for you...

if you manage to pull it off. Every so often my family point out to me that I haven't been away from a computer of some description for more than two days for almost a decade! Very sad I know but what can I say, I'm addicted!
