The Great Vista Sweepstake

Thursday 5th January, 2006
OK, it's competition time.

Microsoft would have you believe that Windows Vista (the successor to Windows XP) will ship this year...2006. It's had half the guts ripped out of it (WinFS etc.) so it might just make it in time for IE7 to be it's main feature.

What we have here is a "guess the shipping date" competition!

In the comments below, post your guess of day and month you think it will ship. The person who guesses the closest will win a £50 donation to the registered charity of their choice. Yes...50 of the UK's finest quids.

So, bring on the guesses. No rules, except that the prize is split if 2 or more people get the right answer and the competition is void if it doesn't ship in 2006 ;O)

Your comments related to Microsoft are ill-informed as always. Your blatant prejudice is annoying.

Thank you, at least you bought a Sonos and not some crappy Windows Media Centre product ;O)

I would delete your sad, anonymous, faceless comment...but I know who you are!

I guess they will ship it at the end of this year. Why? As you know, Microsoft Products generally aren't finished when they appear on the market so it doesn't matter when they release ist. Happy bug-fixing...

I might get Vista a soon as there's a Service Pack 2 (Like i did with Windows XP)

Hmmm - if it must ship in 2006 I would guess December 36th using MS Calendar.

What I find very ironic is the MS supporter up above claiming (via the mail address button) that YOU have been brainwashed for clearly learning by MS's dire track record in shipping on time.

Lets see. Vista Reset. 12,000 man-years of development just flushed away. XP - late. Win2k - late. NT - three years late. Exchange - late - and its not even got any new features...!

So - Redmond fanboy - who's the brainwashed one ?

At least we have the balls to put our names to our comments, eh ?

Script kiddie swatting - its like kicking a puppy dog...
