Workplace loses Lotus Branding

As reported on Chris Miller's blog, "Lotus Workplace" will shortly become "IBM Workplace TM".

Apparently "Lotus and Websphere will continue as brands" but what are Lotus going to be selling?

I see this as having two outcomes. Either the Lotus guys will carry on pushing Notes/Domino  and not have to focus on Workplace TM or alternatively, as customers move applications over to Workplace, they'll see the Notes/Domino market drying up.

I just don't get it, what's the point of launching a product under one brand and then changing it? Unless you wanted to steal some customer base perhaps!

    They need no sense in it, they are IBM.

    IBM has a lot of good products but by constantly renaming their products they confuse the customers and drive them away
